1)Introduction (10 minutes)

c.Not to be confused with “normal” conversation
d.The power of personal narrative
i.What do you know about one other person in this room?
1.Identify one thing – make a mental note of it.
ii.We all know how important listening is, right?
iii.But what do we know or believe about telling?
2)Narrative Demonstration (60 minutes; no breaks, no interruptions)
a.Everyone is encouraged to share a short (5 minutes), personal memory
i.Topic is provided upon registration
ii.Narratives will not be interrupted, critiqued or judged in any way
3)Post-Demonstration Discussion (15 minutes)
a.Questions and observations about the process of listening and telling
b.Specific questions about individual narratives are invited
c.Challenges and concerns?
4)Recap/Summary (10 minutes)
a.We all have a natural ability and desire to tell our story
b.Our current culture has become an obstacle
c.Best way to re-learn is to practice, practice, and practice some more
d.Did you learn anything new about the person you identified before we began?
e.What will you will take with you today?
